Aphids are small insects that can overrun gardens and feed on the sap from plants. This can cause extensive damage if the aphids are not appropriately controlled.

Fortunately, neem oil can act as a non-toxic and natural pest repellant and insecticide when applied to plants and garden correctly. Neem oil is effective as an insecticide thanks to certain properties which suffocate insects and interrupt their ability to feed and breed; over time this reduces populations of the insect and can deter new infestations from starting.

To use neem oil to repel or remove aphid infestations, mix a few drops of neem oil into a spray bottle filled with water and a small amount of gentle dish soap. Apply it on the affected plants and around the soil in addition to spraying any aphids you see directly. Reapply this mixture once every seven days for best results and protection.
